Architectural cabins for nature-led hospitality, private retreats and compact living - designed around atmosphere, comfort and connection to nature.

Add an experiential layer to your landscape.

Arboretum Haus designs and manufactures architectural cabins that create more space, comfort and atmosphere with a smaller footprint.

Our compact timber cabins are engineered for flexible deployment - on private land, in gardens, forest plots, coastal locations, retreats, resorts, and nature-led hospitality destinations. Designed around trailer-based mobility and off-site production, they can be delivered with minimal disruption and without turning the site into a construction zone.

Each cabin is developed around a clear architectural logic: generous panoramic glazing, a comfortable sleeping podium, flowing interior layouts, high-quality tactile materials, and facade solutions that can either blend quietly into nature or create a strong design statement.

Our range can be delivered from a simplified shell to a fully equipped turnkey cabin, depending on the project, budget and intended use. Whether for private living, guest accommodation or hospitality expansion, Arboretum Haus cabins are built to feel intentional, durable and deeply connected to their surroundings.

Designed in Austria and manufactured in Spanish Catalonia, our cabins combine sustainable timber construction, serial off-site production and hospitality-grade attention to detail.

A small black tiny house on wheels with large front window and sliding glass door, situated in a wooded area.

Whether you are creating a quiet private retreat, a compact living space closer to nature, or expanding an existing hospitality property with a new emotional guest experience, Arboretum Haus offers flexible architectural cabins designed around comfort, atmosphere and connection to the landscape.

Our cabins are made for people who want more than square meters - they want a space that feels calm, intentional and deeply connected to its surroundings.

A cozy bedroom with large windows overlooking a lush green forest. The bed has neutral bedding with a fur throw, and there are shelves with potted plants and framed art. The room features wood paneling and flooring, and a small kitchenette area with a black sink and a magazine on the counter.

Travellers no longer choose only where to stay. They choose how they want to feel.

Guests choose silence after a long season of noise. They choose privacy, morning light, a framed view, the smell of timber, the feeling of waking up closer to nature. They choose places that slow them down, reconnect them with themselves and leave an emotional memory after the stay is over.

This is where Arboretum Haus creates value for hospitality operators.

We do not simply deliver additional room inventory. We help launching and existing hospitality projects add a complete experiential layer to their land, resort, retreat, vineyard, farm or coastal destination.

Each cabin is designed as a small emotional world: architectural compact living, natural materials, panoramic glazing, warm interiors and a direct relationship with the landscape. It is not only a unit to book. It is a reason to come, a reason to stay longer, a reason to share, and a reason to return.

For operators, this means more than adding beds. It means creating high-value guest moments that can increase perceived value, strengthen brand identity and transform unused corners of land into memorable hospitality experiences.

Multiple sizes.

One architectural logic.

  • Compact and efficient

Our most compact cabin size, designed for private gardens, smaller plots, guest accommodation and efficient hospitality deployment.

The 600 cm model keeps the full Arboretum Haus experience in the smallest footprint: sleeping area, bathroom, kitchenette zone and panoramic connection to nature. It is ideal when access, budget or available land area are key considerations, but the space still needs to feel architectural, comfortable and complete.

    Best for
Garden cabins, guest units, compact retreats and small-scale hospitality projects.

  • Balanced and versatile

The 660 cm cabin is the most balanced size in the range, offering stronger interior flow while remaining compact and easy to deploy.

It gives more breathing room between the sleeping area, seating zone, kitchenette and bathroom, making it a strong choice for both private use and hospitality stays. For many projects, this is the ideal middle point between efficiency, comfort and commercial logic.

    Best for
Private retreats, short-term accommodation, boutique hospitality and nature-led stays.

  • Most generous experience

The 720 cm model offers the most spacious Arboretum Haus cabin experience, with a stronger sense of comfort, privacy and hospitality value.

It is designed for projects where the cabin should feel less like a compact unit and more like a complete premium stay. The additional length allows for a more generous layout, stronger guest comfort and a higher perceived value — especially for retreats, resorts and high-ADR hospitality concepts.

    Best for
Premium guest stays, retreats, hospitality expansion and flagship cabin projects.

  • For clients who want to go beyond the standard cabin range, Custom Atelier is our bespoke design and development path.

This option is created for special private projects, hospitality concepts, wellness units, branded retreats and unique site conditions where the cabin needs to be adapted in layout, facade, material palette, interior atmosphere or technical specification.

Together, we define the experience first — how the space should feel, how it connects to the landscape, how guests or owners will move through it, and what level of comfort, privacy and visual identity the project requires.

Custom Atelier allows Arboretum Haus to develop a more individual solution while keeping the advantages of off-site timber construction, controlled production quality and efficient deployment.

    Best for
Boutique hospitality, wellness cabins, retreat concepts, private estates, branded destinations and special architectural projects.

Natural facades
€0.00

Natural timber facades give each cabin a warm, tactile and landscape-connected character. We offer oil-toned Nordic pine for a clean architectural look that can be adapted to the surroundings, or natural larch for a more premium facade with stronger grain, deeper texture and beautiful ageing over time.

Weitzer Parkett flooring
€0.00

A durable and tactile wood flooring finish from Austrian manufacturer Weitzer Parkett, bringing warmth, comfort and a refined residential atmosphere into the cabin interior. Its natural texture helps compact spaces feel calmer, softer and more connected to the surrounding landscape.

  • Our wall and roof build-ups are designed to manage moisture naturally and support long-term building health. We use high-quality membranes and airtightness solutions from SIGA Switzerland, helping the cabin envelope remain breathable, precise and durable across changing climate conditions.

  • Large timber-aluminium windows by Gaulhofer Austria frame the surrounding landscape and bring natural light deep into the cabin interior. ESG / VSG safety glass supports durability and comfort, while the generous glazing creates the signature Arboretum Haus feeling of openness, calm and direct connection to nature.

  • We use low-VOC plywood together with natural oil finishes such as Rubio Monocoat, helping reduce unnecessary emissions inside the cabin. This supports a calmer, healthier indoor atmosphere — especially important in compact spaces where every material surface is close to daily life.

  • Each cabin is built on a homologated EU trailer chassis by Vlemmix, allowing flexible placement without conventional foundations or heavy site works. This supports faster delivery, cleaner installation, reduced impact on the landscape and the possibility to relocate the cabin if the project, land use or hospitality concept evolves over time.

  • Designed around mobile caravan dimensions — 2.55 m width, up to 4.00 m transport height and up to 3,500 kg total weight — our cabins are built on an EU-homologated Vlemmix trailer chassis. This can simplify transport, placement and regulatory handling, and in some jurisdictions may allow deployment with simplified permits or without conventional building permits, depending on local rules and land use classification.

  • Connected comfort

Designed for sites with access to standard utility connections, the on-grid cabin is the most straightforward solution for private retreats and hospitality operations. Electricity, water and sewage can be connected to existing infrastructure, creating a ready-to-use cabin experience with integrated comfort systems, easier operation and lower technical complexity.

Best for private land, resorts, retreats, gardens and hospitality sites with available utility access.

  • Independent nature-led living

For remote landscapes and projects without direct utility connections, the off-grid cabin can be equipped with independent systems for power, water and sewage. Solar energy, water tanks, compact treatment solutions and alternative toilet systems allow the cabin to operate with a lighter footprint and greater independence from conventional infrastructure.

Best for remote plots, nature retreats, eco-hospitality, farms, vineyards and low-impact guest experiences.

  • Compact, durable and easy to maintain

Each Arboretum Haus cabin includes a fully equipped bathroom designed for real daily use, not just occasional compact living. The layout combines a comfortable shower, toilet and sink with moisture-resistant materials selected for durability, hygiene and easy maintenance.

For the shower and wet areas, we use high-quality waterproof wall panels such as Kobertin / compact bathroom panels, creating a clean, seamless surface without traditional tile joints. This reduces maintenance, improves water resistance and gives the bathroom a more refined architectural finish.

The shower is planned as a comfortable full-size solution, with a practical shower tray, glass shower screen or door, and fittings selected according to the cabin tier and project specification. The result is a bathroom that feels compact, functional and hotel-ready — suitable for private retreats, hospitality stays and year-round use.

  • Fast comfort in the bathroom, stable warmth in the main space

Our cabins can combine two underfloor electric heating solutions for better comfort and energy logic. In the bathroom, a quicker-response electric underfloor system provides fast warmth exactly where it is most appreciated — after a shower or during colder mornings.

In the main living area, an economical slow-heat underfloor system with carbon heating film delivers softer, more stable warmth over time. It creates an even temperature across the compact interior, supporting daily comfort while keeping operation simple, silent and efficient.

  • Fresh air, moisture control and everyday comfort

Each cabin is equipped with a ventilation concept designed for compact, well-insulated interiors. In the main living space, a ventilation unit with heat exchange supports continuous fresh air supply while helping reduce unnecessary heat loss during colder periods.

In the bathroom, a dedicated extractor fan removes moisture directly from the wet area, supporting hygiene, comfort and long-term material protection. Together, these systems help maintain a healthier indoor climate, prevent stale air and make the cabin feel fresh, dry and comfortable throughout daily use.

Wellness, Ritual & Recovery Spaces

A tiny modern cabin with wood siding located on a grassy area by a lake, surrounded by green trees, under a clear blue sky.
  • We design and manufacture trailer-based sauna units for hospitality operators, wellness concepts, retreats and private destinations. Built as compact ritual spaces, they combine timber craftsmanship, efficient technical planning and atmospheric interiors — allowing operators to add sauna experiences without conventional construction complexity.

  • Wellness today is built around contrast, ritual and recovery. Our production can support cold plunge zones, shower modules and compact recovery layouts that work together with sauna units to create a complete hot-cold wellness journey for guests, members or private users.

  • Beyond single units, Arboretum Haus can develop complete mobile wellness concepts for resorts, glamping sites, beach clubs, retreats and nature-led hospitality projects. From sauna trailers to relaxation decks and technical integration, we help transform unused outdoor areas into high-value wellness experiences.

About us

We are a team of builders, designers and production specialists driven by one idea: small spaces can create powerful experiences.

At Arboretum Haus, we design and manufacture architectural timber cabins for people and operators who want more than standard accommodation. Our work combines compact living, natural materials, European off-site production and a deep understanding of how space, light, comfort and landscape shape the way people feel.

Every Arboretum Haus cabin is developed with the same care: from the first layout decision to the final interior surface, from the timber envelope to the panoramic view, from the technical systems to the atmosphere inside. We believe that good design is not only about appearance — it is about how a space works, how it welcomes people, and how naturally it belongs to its surroundings.

Our team brings together experience in timber construction, modular production, hospitality concepts, technical detailing and project delivery. This allows us to support both private clients and hospitality operators with a clear, structured process — whether the goal is a private retreat, a guest cabin, a wellness unit or a new nature-led hospitality destination.

Whether you choose one of our standard models or develop a more individual solution through our Custom Atelier, we help shape a cabin that reflects your land, your concept and the emotional experience you want to create.

By the time the cabin is placed on site, it should feel like it was always meant to be there — compact, refined, comfortable and deeply connected to the landscape around it.

Questions & Guidance: Arboretum Haus Knowledge Base

Design & Cabin Range

  • Pure is our essential architectural shell for clients who want maximum flexibility and plan to complete parts of the fit-out themselves. Edition is our main turnkey on-grid cabin, designed as a ready-to-use solution for private retreats and hospitality stays. Bespoke is our premium upgraded tier, with elevated materials, stronger comfort features and a more refined hospitality atmosphere.

  • Our standard range is built around three main sizes: 600 cm, 660 cm and 720 cm. The 600 cm model is compact and efficient, the 660 cm model offers the best balance between footprint and comfort, and the 720 cm model creates the most generous guest experience. The right choice depends on your land, intended use, access conditions, budget and desired level of comfort.

  • Our standard layouts are carefully developed around comfort, technical efficiency and the feeling of space inside a compact footprint. Smaller adjustments may be possible depending on the tier and cabin size, while more individual layouts are developed through our Custom Atelier path.

  • Yes. Depending on the selected tier, we offer different facade and interior options, including oil-toned Nordic pine, natural larch, poplar plywood interiors, wood flooring and selected natural finishes. The goal is to adapt the cabin to its landscape and intended atmosphere without compromising the technical logic of the build.

  • Yes. Arboretum Haus cabins are designed as insulated timber structures with high-quality windows, breathable envelope build-ups and integrated comfort systems depending on the selected tier. Heating, A/C and additional technical upgrades can be specified according to the climate, location and use case.

  • Yes. For special hospitality concepts, wellness units, private estates or unique site conditions, we offer Custom Atelier. This allows us to develop a more tailored solution in terms of layout, facade, interior atmosphere, technical specification or guest experience while keeping the advantages of off-site timber production.

Technical Build & Materials

  • Our interiors are built around natural, tactile and low-emission materials. Depending on the selected tier, this includes poplar plywood interiors, Austrian Weitzer Parkett flooring, low-VOC plywood and natural oil finishes such as Rubio Monocoat. The goal is to create a warm, calm and healthier atmosphere inside a compact space.

  • We use natural sheep wool insulation as part of the cabin envelope. Sheep wool is breathable, helps regulate humidity, improves acoustic comfort and supports a stable indoor climate - especially important in compact spaces used for private retreats and hospitality stays.

  • An open-diffusion envelope allows the wall and roof build-up to manage moisture naturally instead of trapping it inside sealed plastic layers. We combine timber construction with high-quality airtightness and membrane solutions from SIGA Switzerland, helping the cabin remain breathable, precise and durable across changing climate conditions.

  • Our cabins use timber-aluminium windows by Gaulhofer Austria with ESG / VSG safety glass. Large panoramic glazing is positioned to frame the surrounding landscape, bring natural light deep into the interior and create the signature Arboretum Haus feeling of openness and connection to nature.

  • We offer natural timber facades that can either blend softly into the landscape or create a stronger architectural statement. Depending on the tier and project, this includes oil-toned Nordic pine and natural larch facade options, with different tones, textures and ageing characteristics.

  • Yes. The cabins are produced with a controlled timber construction logic, durable facade systems, high-quality membranes, insulated envelope build-ups and carefully selected interior materials. Each technical layer is designed to support comfort, stability and long-term use in private or hospitality environments.

Hospitality & Commercial Use

  • Yes. Our cabins are designed for nature-led hospitality, private retreats, boutique resorts, farms, vineyards, coastal sites and wellness destinations. They are developed not only as compact accommodation units, but as complete guest experiences shaped around privacy, atmosphere, comfort and connection to the landscape.

  • They allow operators to activate unused or underused land without the complexity of conventional construction. A quiet corner of a resort, vineyard, garden, forest edge or lakeside plot can become a high-value stay experience with its own identity, view and emotional appeal.

  • We do more than deliver room inventory. Arboretum Haus helps operators add an experiential hospitality layer to their project — through cabin layout, material atmosphere, facade expression, guest comfort, positioning and the way each unit connects to the site.

  • Yes. Depending on the selected tier and project scope, the cabin can be adapted with facade tones, interior atmosphere, selected finishes, furniture logic and guest experience details. For stronger brand-specific concepts, we recommend our Custom Atelier path.

  • Yes. The cabins are especially suited for projects where the guest experience is built around nature, privacy, design and emotional value. Larger and upgraded specifications, especially Edition and Bespoke, are well suited for premium stays where perceived value matters more than simple square meters.

  • Yes. We can support both existing operators and new hospitality concepts by helping define the right cabin size, finishing tier, deployment logic and guest experience. For larger rollouts, we can also structure the project around phased production, site planning and operational requirements.

Production, Delivery & Installation

  • Our cabins are manufactured in Spanish Catalonia through controlled off-site timber production. This allows us to build in a workshop environment, protect materials during production, improve detailing quality and reduce the amount of work required on the client’s site.

  • As a standard reference, the lead time for one cabin is around 90 days from confirmed order and technical approval. For larger batches, the timeline becomes more efficient: a batch of around 10 cabins usually requires approximately 100–120 days, depending on the selected tier, production schedule and level of customisation.

  • The cabin is delivered as a trailer-based mobile unit on an EU-homologated Vlemmix chassis. Depending on the location and access conditions, delivery is organised by suitable towing or transport vehicles, with placement coordinated according to the site layout and local requirements.

  • Before delivery, the placement area should be level, stable and accessible. Utility connections should also be planned in advance, including electricity, fresh water, sewage or off-grid alternatives. For hospitality projects, we also recommend planning guest access, privacy, views, lighting and service routes before final placement.

  • Compared with conventional construction, installation is significantly cleaner and faster. Because the cabin is produced off-site and delivered as a finished or semi-finished unit, the site does not need to become a long-term construction zone. This is especially valuable for private gardens, operating hospitality properties and sensitive natural landscapes.

Permits, Land & Placement

  • This depends on the country, region, land classification and intended use. Our cabins are designed around mobile caravan logic — with a maximum width of 2.55 m, transport height up to 4.00 m and total weight up to 3,500 kg — which can simplify regulatory handling in many locations. In some cases, this may reduce or remove the need for a conventional building permit, but local rules must always be checked before placement.

  • Each cabin is built on an EU-homologated Vlemmix trailer chassis. This means the cabin is not placed on a classical concrete foundation, but remains connected to a mobile technical base. This allows faster delivery, cleaner installation, lighter site impact and the possibility to relocate the unit if the project or land use changes.

  • Arboretum Haus cabins can be suitable for private gardens, rural plots, retreat land, hospitality properties, farms, vineyards, campsites and nature-led destinations. The key factors are access, ground stability, local regulations, utility strategy and whether the planned use is private, commercial or touristic.

  • The site should have suitable access for delivery, a prepared level placement area and a clear plan for utilities such as electricity, water and sewage. Depending on the project, this can be solved through on-grid connections, tanks, septic systems, compact treatment solutions or off-grid systems.

  • In many cases, yes. Because the cabin is trailer-based, it can often be placed with significantly less ground intervention than a conventional modular building. This helps protect the landscape, reduce installation time and avoid turning the site into a construction zone.

  • Yes. One of the main advantages of the trailer-based concept is flexibility. The cabin can be moved if the land use changes, the hospitality concept evolves, or the operator wants to reposition units seasonally or strategically. Relocation still depends on access, transport conditions and technical disconnection / reconnection requirements.

Pricing & Offer Process

  • Our pricing depends on the selected cabin size, finishing tier, facade option, technical specification and delivery location. As a reference, our standard cabin range starts from the Pure tier and moves up through Edition and Bespoke, with project-specific offers prepared after we understand the intended use, site conditions and required specification.

  • The starting price includes the cabin according to the selected tier specification. Each tier has a clearly defined scope, from the essential architectural shell in Pure to the main turnkey on-grid specification in Edition and the premium upgraded specification in Bespoke. Transport, site preparation, utility connections, permits and project-specific extras are normally calculated separately.

  • Our standard payment cycle is 40 / 40 / 20. This usually means 40% deposit to confirm the order and production slot, 40% during production according to agreed milestones, and the final 20% before delivery or handover. The exact payment schedule is confirmed in the individual offer and contract.

  • Yes. For larger projects, special conditions can apply. Starting from the second cabin in the same order, we can offer a 10% discount on the second and following cabins. For orders from 5 cabins and above, we can prepare more specific commercial conditions based on the project scope, production planning, delivery sequence and level of standardisation.

  • The process starts with a short project review. We need to understand your land, intended use, preferred cabin size, finishing tier, delivery location, utility strategy and whether the cabin is planned for private use or hospitality operation. Based on this, we prepare a tailored offer with the relevant specification and commercial terms.

  • Usually not. Transport, placement, permits, site preparation, utility connections, foundations or alternative ground works, crane or special access equipment, and third-party services are normally calculated separately. This keeps the cabin price transparent and allows each project to be priced according to its real site conditions.
